Taking chances can leave us victorious or doomed. How much of life is happenstance, akin to spinning a wheel or rolling a die? Even when every detail is calculated and the future is anticipated, serendipity governs the unfortunate and prosperous alike. Is it kismet or the toss of a coin? For even Stevens or those cursed by Murphy’s Law, this issue investigates that elusive, but ever prevalent, part of life – luck.
